PLAYWRIGHT - SELECTED FULL-LENGTH PLAYS

Cult Play is a suspenseful multi-platform solo show in which audience participation is essential to the story. Our live performer, Alex, shares photos, videos, and other artifacts to show the audience how she fell in love with Taylor, who lured her into a cult. She frames the performance as a thought experiment told in the second person. The refrain “what if you ___” builds to the play’s ultimate question: what if this happened to you?

O Death is a nuanced exploration of trans and queer identity, cancel culture, and the legacy of our cultural icons. In O Death, trans musician James and his sister Caddy are about to go on tour when James is publicly called out for crossing a line with a fan. As they stay with their rock legend grandfather Alden Hass during his final days, Caddy and James attempt to survive the call-out while resisting the intoxicating allure of fame.

This is the August follows Edie, a YouTube star who has just gone viral. Her girlfriend Bea, a professor and documentary filmmaker, wants Edie to focus on more “important” work than vlogs about her sex life. Together, they passionately negotiate their identities: Millennial vs. Boomer, student vs. professor, lover vs. adversary. These conflicts of identity come to a head when Edie meets Sam, a multimedia artist who defies definition.
